Aid to New Jersey Hurricane Victims

Screen Shot 2014-01-09 at 9.53.09 PMBeing from South Louisiana, the team at Cornerstone Commercial Flooring knows something about the devastating effects of hurricanes. So when Hurricane Sandy hit the northeast, they wanted to help. Cornerstone vice president Ben

Lowery said,

“We contacted our friends and colleagues and asked them to donate whatever they could in terms of food, clothing, and money. The outpouring of donations was beyond generous. We loaded everything in a cargo trailer and truck. On the way out of town, Jim Lloyd and I stopped at the Central Wal-Mart to top off any room that was left over with warm weather clothing and food. We headed for Point Pleasant, NJ, a small coastal community that was hard hit by the storm.”

Lowery said,

“In Point Pleasant, houses, stores, and the boardwalk were in shambles, but the character of the town was intact. Its beauty was still evident in what remained. The storm seemed to heighten the sense of community in this town. Residents were working hard to bring things back. We heard countless stories of neighbors helping neighbors. When Jim and I entered a local restaurant, the residents gathered there to cheer for us. There were hugs and kisses and pats on the back. It was great to know our efforts did not go unnoticed or unappreciated! Quite the opposite!”
